Elon Musk is no longer the world’s richest man

Jeff Bezos recently overtook billionaire Elon Musk to once again become the world’s richest man, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The Amazon founder has a net worth of approximately $200 billion.

Next is Elon Musk, CEO of social network Company X, with an estimated fortune of about $198 billion. Within a year, Musk’s wealth fell by about $31 billion, while Jeff Bezos’s increased by $23 billion.

In May 2023, Elon Musk surpassed LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault to become the world’s richest man, according to Bloomberg. Bernard Arnault is one of the world’s leading companies, owning brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Celine.

Three billionaires, Musk, Arnault and Bezos, have topped the Bloomberg Global Rich List for many months in a row.

Elon Musk faces a series of difficulties. Earlier this year, a Delaware court judge canceled Tesla’s $50 billion bonus plan for Musk. At the same time, Tesla shares have also fallen by about 24% since the beginning of 2024.

In addition, Elon Musk faces a lawsuit worth nearly $130 million over unpaid compensation and severance pay. Since taking over Twitter in late October 2022, he has also fired multiple former Twitter CEOs.

The title of the world’s richest man usually changes every few months, depending on market fluctuations.

Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault still have huge wealth, according to Oxfam’s annual inequality report. Since 2020, the net worth of the world’s five richest people has increased to $869 billion, an increase of 114% after adjusting for inflation.
